Raya Martigny

  Raya Martigny is a multidisciplinary artist from Réunion Island, whose practice spans photography, cinema, performance, and art direction. Coming from the world of fashion, she has shifted her engagement toward a resolutely contemporary, queer, and political approach. Through the image — still or moving — she builds spaces of reappropriation and resistance, often in close dialogue with her native land, La Réunion. As an actress, she embodies powerful and subversive queer figures in the films of Alexis Langlois and Avril Besson, contributing to a new grammar of radical and camp cinema. She is at the origin of Queer Palm 2026’s official poster this year with the project « Kwir Nou Éxist » in collaboration with Edouard Richard.

  Raya Martigny est une artiste pluridisciplinaire originaire de La Réunion, dont la pratique traverse la photographie, le cinéma, la performance et la direction artistique. Issue du monde de la mode, elle déplace aujourd’hui son engagement vers une démarche résolument contemporaine, queer et politique. À travers l’image — fixe ou en mouvement — elle construit des espaces de réappropriation et de résistance, souvent en lien étroit avec sa terre natale, La Réunion. En tant qu’actrice, elle incarne des figures queer puissantes et subversives dans les films d’Alexis Langlois ou d’Avril Besson, contribuant à une nouvelle grammaire du cinéma radical et camp. Elle a signé la photo de l’affiche de la Queer Palm 2026 cette année dans le cadre du projet « Kwir Nou Éxist » en collaboration avec Édouard Richard.
