Juliana Rojas

Juliana Rojas, deeply engaged with themes of motherhood, family, and transformation, stands out as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Brazilian cinema.

Her unique exploration of a reimagined femininity is evident in her filmography, which includes numerous shorts such as Doppelgänger—screened at the 2012 Critics' Week and awarded the Discovery Prize—and feature films like the whimsical musical Necropolis Symphony, still unreleased in France. In partnership with Marco Dutra, Rojas has forged a long-standing and fruitful collaboration, culminating in Good Manners (2017), a queer reinterpretation of the werewolf myth.

Her latest film, Cidade;Campo, earned her the Best Director award at this year’s Berlinale (Encounters), further solidifying her reputation as a masterful alchemist of genres.
